Mobile Mama is committed to providing exceptional training for future perinatal mental health clinicians. Applications for the 2026-2027 cohort of the Mobile Mama Clinical Counseling Practicum and Internship will open January 1, 2026. 

Mobile Mama Clinical Practicum Overview

Please note: We only accept applications from individuals pursuing a practicum as part of the Mobile Mama Clinical Counseling Internship.

This is 100-hour, Masters-Level practicum in Perinatal Mental Health, designed for 1–3 students with educational backgrounds in applied psychology (counseling, clinical, or social work). Students will complete their practicum either onsite at a Mobile Mama office or via Telehealth. They will be provided with extensive onboarding, training, supervision, consultation, and support. This experience is designed to prepare students for their Mobile Mama clinical internship.

Practicum students will:

  • Provides therapy for 4-5 clients a week - telehealth and in-person sessions
  • Provides Intakes and assessments for potential clients
  • Receives Individual supervision weekly
  • Receives group supervision weekly
  • Begins extensive extensive training in perinatal mental health, safety planning, intake and assessment
  • Receives Mobile Mama monthly training consultation with local trainers
  • Participates in monthly Internship Seminar with cohort
  • Practum requirements include 10 hours per week throughout entire practicum
  • Please note, this practicum is unpaid.

Mobile Mama Clinical Counseling Internship Overview:

This 600-hour Masters-Level Internship in Perinatal Mental Health is designed for 1-3 master's-level students with educational backgrounds in applied psychology (counseling, clinical, or social work). Interns will be provided with extensive training as well as individual and group supervision. Interns will work onsite in one of the Mobile Mama offices or from a home office. This internship will prepare the interns with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to continue their work in perinatal mental health post-graduation.

Perinatal Mental Health Training Topics Include but are not limited to:

Transition to motherhood/parenthood, perinatal depression, anxiety and bipolar disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, psychosis, traumatic birth, pregnancy and perinatal loss, the effects of sexual abuse on the perinatal period, the impact of fertility concerns, sex and intimacy, safety planning, as well as the "art of therapy" with the perinatal population.

Intern roles and responsibilities  include:

  • Provides therapy for 10-12 clients a week - telehealth and in-person sessions
  • Provides Intakes and assessments for potential clients
  • Receives Individual supervision weekly
  • Receives group supervision weekly
  • Attends Level One training of Lifespan Integration
  • Attends 10 week, PMH training with Perinatal Support WA
  • Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Training and Consultation
  • Receives Mobile Mama monthly training consultation with local trainers
  • Participates in monthly Internship Seminar with cohort
  • Helps to facilitate Tender Transitions: A Mobile Mama Group
  • Interns 20 hours per week throughout the entirety of the internship

Additional Practicum and Internship Details:

  • Practicum start date is typically August, with internship following and a completion by July or August depending on program.
  • If pursuing an 11-month internship, the dates are typically August - July depending on program
  • Internship $1600/ monthly stipend
