Becky Schayes
Medical Coordinator, CNM, ARNP
Becky Schayes is a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). She earned her Master of Nursing in Nurse-Midwifery from the University of Washington School of Nursing in 2013, after earning her Bachelor of Nursing there in 2009. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Lewis & Clark College. She has dedicated her career to providing women access to the midwifery model of care beyond pregnancy and birth.
Over the course of more than 10 years of private practice in Whatcom County, Becky has brought her healing work under many roofs. Starting at Birthroot Midwives and Birth Center, Becky expanded her practice in 2015 and opened Bellingham Center for Healthy Motherhood, co-supporting hundreds of mothers for five years. In 2020, Becky joined Bellingham Natural Family Medicine, bringing her expertise in women’s reproductive healthcare.
At the heart of her work with Mobile Mama, Becky holds space to honor and support the birth of the mother. The current medical system is designed such that care often ends at precisely the moment when many mothers need support the most. Over the past 10 years, Becky has supported hundreds of new parents through this tender time of self-growth, discovery, and exploration.
Becky describes her practice as one of “relationship-based healing,” in which she strives to weave together a deep honor for the individual experience, a need to make space for intuitive knowledge, and a dedication to evidence-based best practices in medicine. At Mobile Mama, Becky provides telemedicine services, including medication management for women with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), as well as care through fertility, conception, motherhood, and menopause.
Outside of clinic work, Becky is also a community activist. She is a co-founder of the Whatcom Perinatal Mental Health Task Force, served on the board of Unity Care NW for six years, and has developed and delivered several trainings in Whatcom County. She has two bold and vibrant children who continue to be her richest teachers in life.
