Meet Claudia Bernal
CMHC Intern
Claudia is a Certified Counselor in WA state, and a Mobile Mama Clinical Mental Health Intern, currently pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Western Washington University. Claudia’s background in Developmental Psychology led her to obtain her Certified Counselor certification and work in Maternity Support Services for several years, where she gained a deeper understanding of the unique experiences mothers navigate within their bodies, the medical system, and the culture at large.
Pregnancy and postpartum are deeply embodied life transitions that can bring unexpected emotions, realizations, and shifts in how we understand ourselves and our lives. As our bodies, identities, and relationships change, this period can become a powerful space for discovery, growth, and healing.
Originally from Venezuela, Claudia brings both personal and professional experience to her work. As a Spanish-speaking Latina and mother, she understands that pregnancy, the postpartum period, and motherhood are deeply personal experiences shaped by our relationships, culture, identity, and the systems around us. She welcomes clients from all backgrounds and is especially passionate about supporting Spanish-speaking and culturally diverse mothers in a space where they can feel understood, respected, and supported.
