Sarah Birch Intern

Meet Sarah Birch

Mobile Mama Counselor, Med, MS Intern

Sarah is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at Western Washington University and holds a Master of Education in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University. Working from a trauma-informed, attachment-based perspective, Sarah incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindful Self-compassion and Lifespan Integration into her work with clients. Sarah is passionate about social justice and equity and approaches clients with this lens.

Sarah has spent the last ten years working in Whatcom County as a social worker supporting the educational and developmental needs of children and families in the foster care system, educational systems, and other services in our community.

After recently becoming a mother herself, Sarah has a deeper understanding of the complexity of the perinatal period and deep desire to work with women in this stage of life. To this end, Sarah is continuing her training in perinatal mental health, and is excited to begin an internship with Mobile Mama.

Sarah was born and raised in Washington State and has been fortunate to call Bellingham home for the last thirteen years. She, her husband, and her son enjoy hiking, playing with their dog, and frequenting coffee shops around town.

A Note from Sarah:

I understand the incredible highs and lows of new motherhood and the unanticipated emotional challenges it can bring. With warmth, compassion and empathy I will support you in navigating this time.
