Melody Eastman

Meet Melody Eastman

CMHC Intern

As a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at Northwest University, Melody is pursuing her Masters degree after almost a decade of working in the criminal justice system as a victim advocate. Many of the cases she worked on involved violence against women. She remains deeply passionate about serving women in her community and as such is focusing her counseling work, with women navigating the perinatal period.

Using person centered and narrative therapy, Melody empathetically and compassionately collaborates with clients making room for their experiences and stories. This is important to Melody because often, women are not encouraged to talk about their experiences, especially those that don't fit into society’s narrative such as negative or traumatic experiences. Additionally, Melody applies mindfulness techniques that emphasize non-judgment, self-compassion, and present moment awareness in her work with clients.

Melody has spent her life in the Pacific Northwest, so naturally she loves coffee and being outdoors. She enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and two pups. She also enjoys her newer hobbies of gardening and caring for houseplants.

A Note from Michelle:

Melody is a compassionate listener who takes the time to hold space for the experiences of her clients. She loves the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold and sees this as a powerful metaphor for therapy. When pain, imperfections, and brokenness are courageously revealed, it allows them to be healed and turned into something beautiful. Melody is honored when her clients choose to trust her with their vulnerability and looks forward to discovering gold together.
